Book Four in the Baby Girl series takes us to the conclusion of the series. Shanna (new name and ID) finds works as an executive secretary for a very successful mogul by the name of William Briggs in NYC. Her skills are honed in this role and the chemistry between Shanna and her boss develops into a strong bond. The type of bond often found between siblings, that is. She discovers more about her past. Namely, that the person she believed was her mother really worked as her caretaker. After discovering her true family, she writes an autobiography about her life as a homeless teen and the various adventures she encountered while struggling to survive. She also gets in touch with a few of the people who shaped her life in a profound way. There's even some sharing between Shanna and the parents of her beloved Einstein as well as with her ex-fiance.I've enjoyed reading the entire series and would recommend the work of Ms. Klass for those interested in adventure tales, young adults and coming of age stories. Well done!

Book 4 in the Baby Girl series.. This series just keeps pulling me in. I just can't wait to delve into the adventures of the leading character, she is so determined to find out about her past, it is her determination that pulls the reader in to the story. Her gutsy attitude and quick thinking that helps her to find out her true identity. She's smart, yet has a little bit of naivety about herself. Looking forward to her next adventures.

In this fourth book, Cleo, now using the name Shanna is learning the secrets of her past. If you haven't read the other books, grab them. The series can be read as stand alone, but following Cleo's life is compelling and each book adds something new. I like Cleo. She is a survivor and as she tries to uncover why her mom abandoned her and other secrets of the life she missed out on, readers are going to be glad they got to tag along. Elle Klass has a great writing style and has a great ability to share that writing with lucky readers!
Baby Girl Book 4 - The Big Apple is the conclusive in a series of short stories surrounding the coming of years of a runaway teenager until the present day on the eve of her twenty-first birthday.
Book one saw the young child left alone by an uncaring mother. She decided life on the run would be better than what she currently had. Calling herself Cleo she met up with other runaway children and formed a survival relationship with Einstein.
Book two, and Cleo changer her persona to Justine and moved to Paris and became involved with hotelier Didier. She became a model and began research into her past to find out more about her missing Mum.
Book three, and Justine was shed for Shanna to escape those that followed her. Shanna got work for La Tige a private detective, and used the opportunity to dig deeper in to her past.
Book four now concludes Cleo's search, she is now an executive secretary for William Briggs III. She discovers the women she thought was her Mum was only caring for her in a complicated web of secrecy. She meets the parents of Einstein and lays to rest some of his ghosts and finally she writes a book about these runaway years of her life to share with all those people who touched her life but with whom she couldn't share the truth until now.
I'm really pleased we got closure for Cleo, each previous book left us hanging on cliff edges, looking back I have enjoyed the series very much.

Book 4 starts by giving you a small glimpse of what happened in book 1, 2 and 3.
In book 3, Cleo finds work with La Tige Detective Agency in the city by the Bay -- then in book 4, she uses some of her detective skills and goes to the Big Apple. She gets a job working for the company that is owned by her sperm-donors family -- but don't worry, you are going to have to read the book to find out exactly what does happen. I will warn you, once you start reading this book, you will find it hard to stop until you reach the ending.

An adult tragedy has caused "Baby Girl" to grow up, surviving without her biological mother. She believes that she was abandoned by her real mother, and now "Baby Girl" wants to know why. "If she loved me so much, why did she let me go?" This question is eating away at BabyGirl//Cleo/Camille/Babet/Shanna and driving her to want to know more about her real parents and why they did not raise her. Cleo wants to know her real name and her real birthday. Cleo is hurt and looking for comfort. There are some things orphans might not ever understand about their biological mother and father, but Cleo has unknowingly made up her mind to hold grudges and curiosity at the same time. She wants to discover more about her biological parents, but worldly knowledge doesn't offer the comfort or love that she truly needs. Learning about other people's mistakes requires one to respond with additional love and grace, but does Cleo have enough love and grace to carry on? At the very least, knowing the truth will end the quest of wanting to find out but in this case, the sad truth requires some grieving. Baby Girl learns that she can take her tragic past to help other homeless children. Her conflict is to appreciate the people she does have in her life and to decide whether or not she will appreciate those who are no longer there. This story is great for the new-adult category, which includes college age people. It's also great for adults who have the desire to "find out" about their biological parents. Cleo finally comes to terms with her identity and her past.
